The Magayon Festival Invitational Table Tennis Tournament 2008 was held at Pacific Mall, Legazpi City, last April 11 - 13, 2008. Organized by TATAP (Table Tennis Association of the Philippines) Region 5 - President Mr. Emerito Barrera, in cooperation with Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda.
With Cash Prizes totaling to PhP43,000.00, many teams (majority from Manila) patiently traversed the long road to Legazpi to compete for the top prize. With teams comprising of one current or former RP National Players and UAAP/NCAA superstars, the tournament took an exciting spin, making the Magayon Festival one of the most memorable event in 2008.
MeTTA reached the 2nd runner-up position, before being defeated by the Champion team - PNP/UST Killerspin. "We really didn't expect that we will reach this far. I'm really thankful to my fellow teammates' enthusiasms and persistence. Without them, we might just be one of the tourist in the sideline.", said Mr. Ting Ledesma, President of MeTTA and former RP National Player.
At the end of the tournament, PNP/UST Killerspin won the Champion title, defeating fellow team, PNP Killerspin in the Finals. While MeTTA Team A and EC Jack Team B, both won the 2nd Runner-Up title.
